Mixtape Monday: Âme

With temperatures reaching summer-like heights here, it’s time to start planning for the festival season. Where to go and which artists to check out? A worldclass act that never under-delivers on festivals is the German duo Âme. Each set they play as well as each production they release is top notch. Therefore, whilst looking forward to the festival season, this Mixtape Monday presents a mix by Âme: “The new E-Class”.

The duo Âme consists of Kristian Beyer and Frank Wiedemann, both hailing from Karlsruhe, a city in the southwest of Germany. About a decade ago the two met in a record-shop in the area and decided to produce music together. And they did so with lots of success. Since their first releases on the open-minded label Sonar Kollektiv, Âme released a string of beautifully crafted deephouse tracks, including hits like Rej, Where We At and Junggesellenmaschine.

Next to reviving the deephouse genre with their Berlin, Detroit and New York inspired releases, the duo’s DJ-sets are often special too. The set below is no exception. Recorded in late April 2011 in Belgium, the liveset features over four (!) hours of warm, melodic and deep tracks from a broad range of genres. Expect to hear many of today’s deephouse hits such as the wonderful Snooze 4 Love by Todd Terje, Every Minute Alone by WhoMadeWho and Henrik Schwarz’ classic Equinox remix. Let the festival season come!

    You’re a hero amongst heros for this piece of music on this sweaty evening of type-ical labour! Volume: UP. Bass: UP. Mood: UP. Âme is a hero too.

    @Yoshua No problem, thanks!

    @Pim I’m curious what your final work will look like after these 4 hours of Âme-madness!
