For this week’s Mixtape Monday I chose a great mix by Antal Heitlager, who is the co-founder of the Amsterdam based record shop/label/distributor Rush Hour. Titled ‘Nothing but 45s‘ the mix presents almost 80 minutes of carefully selected soul, funk, and disco.

After being started in 1996 as a mailorder outfit, over the years Rush Hour has been expanding its activities and currently the company consists of a record shop, a distribution outlet, and a record label. This diversity can also be heard in the music they represent and might even be considered the key to their success, as co-founder Christiaan MacDonald remarked in an interview with Beatportal a year ago.

On Antal Heitlager’s SoundCloud page this diversity is reflected too. In the mixes that can be found there a wide variety of musical styles can be heard, ranging from techno to African and Brasilian music. In this great mixtape the spirit of Rush Hour is reflected too so enjoy ‘Nothing but 45s’, nothing but great music!
