Anton Zap is a very talented producer from Moscow that has released beautifully crafted EPs on renowned deephouse labels like Underground Quality, Quintessentials and Deep Explorer. I’m a big fan of the output of these labels and of Zap’s sounds in particular. Therefore on this Mixtape Monday a great liveset one of my favorite producers, Anton Zap.

The Muscovite Zap is educated in the very unique double-field of Chinese and sound engineering. In the mid 1990s he directed his creative energy in the lounge ensemble Tetris that among others wrote music for major fashion shows. From 1997 on however, he became a resident DJ at one of Moscow’s leading clubs, Propaganda. During this residency, that lasted until 2005, he developed his taste for American house and disco.

After his residency ended, Zap began with producing his own music that sounded like a combination of his earlier projects: a blend of deep house and classic Detroit house. A string of successful releases followed on acclaimed labels which brought him to the attention of record shops and press worldwide.

Recently, he did a great mixtape for Littlewhiteearbuds in which all of the previously mentioned influences can be heard. Enjoy the lush, warm, and hypnotizing Russian deephouse of Anton Zap!
