It’s time to Jacques your body! To the sophisticated disco sounds of Jacques Renault to be exactly, who is featured here on this week’s Mixtape Monday. Renault has been delivering great disco sounds for years now and has made one of 2010′s biggest “disco bombs” with his remix of  Midnight Magic’s ‘Beam Me Up’. Time to check out one of his great mixtapes!

The acclaimed nu disco producer and DJ moved to Chicago in the late 90s to study the viola but luckily for us he ended up in the electronic music scene instead. In 2002 he moved to New York, the heart of disco, where he held residencies at famous clubs and developed his characteristic sound. Today, Renault is known for his edits, remixes and his own tracks which he released on labels like Italians Do it Better, Rekids and Permanent Vacation.

In an interview with Papermag in 2007 he stated that ninety percent of disco is bad. However, Renault manages to select the remaining 10 percent of good disco and mixes this up with the best 70s disco edits. My experience is that the more you hear of him, the more you will love him. So, if you also want to get into this sound and enjoy it like they did in the old NYC disco days, check out this mixtape!
