Mixtape Monday: Jamie XX

12.06.10 Posted in Blog by

In contrast with the rather obscure TLR that was featured here last week, this week’s Mixtape Monday sees a mix by man-of-the-moment Jamie XX. Next to being a part of the very popular indie band The XX, his efforts as a solo producer and remixer are also gaining more and more traction. With some exciting  remixes coming up next year it’s time to feature one of the best mixtapes he made this year.

While The XX has been slowing down on releases and performances lately, Jamie XX evidently found some time again to focus on his projects as a solo-producer. After the well received remix he did of Florence and the Machine’s ‘You’ve Got the Love’ in late 2009, several other interesting productions followed this year and it seems as if only more is to come.

Last week for example, the album We’re New Here was announced for February 2011 which will feature reworked versions of Gil Scott-Heron’s I’m New Here. Next to this a remix of Adele’s ‘Rolling In The Deep’ is rumored to be released in January. Jamie XX therefore is definitely someone to keep an eye on also in 2011.

This mixtape dates from earlier this year but despite being some months old doesn’t sound dated at all. The mix was done for Colette, a Parisian fashion boutique, and sounds just like The XX: Fresh, and hard to classify in a single genre. Enjoy!
