Mixtape Monday: Mojuba Records

For this week’s Mixtape Monday I selected a very, very special mix. A mixtape that pays a tribute to one of my favorite labels: Mojuba Records. The label has been releasing “Dusky, Detroit-influenced deep and dubby house music” since 2005 and has steadily been delivering high quality music since then. Therefore in this post: World class deephouse from Berlin!

I’ve been following Mojuba Records since its first release back in 2005 when I was fortunate to buy the Minimal Summer EP by Nick Solé at Berlin’s Hardwax record store. Since I enjoyed playing the vinyl so much, I decided to contact the label’s founder Thomas Wendel for follow-up releases, got on the label’s mailinglist, and ended up buying a lot of their releases and some merchandising as well.

As said, Mojuba Records was founded in 2005 by Thomas Wendel, who also releases tracks under his Don Williams moniker. Between 2005 and today, the label released sixteen brilliant EPs from artists like Oracy, Nick Solé, and Sven Weisemann and next to that the label expanded with the two sublabels Wandering and A.R.T.Less.

This mix was done by SoundCloud user Alexis and contains over an hour of Mojuba goodies. I hope you enjoy listening and if you do, be sure to check out their latest ‘Emphasized EP’ by Sven Weisemann!
